IT STARTS WITH A CALL:

Whether it’s an overflowing shelter about to destroy healthy pups due to overcrowding, or a veteran in need of a service dog, or an area hit by a natural disaster requiring supplies & relief, the FlyPups call center stands ready.

THE MISSION IS PLANNED:

Once the details of the requested mission are obtained, the pilot and FlyPups team-members scramble.  We check the weather, line up the required volunteer support at the sending and receiving locations, and have health certificates obtained.

THE PLANE IS PREPARED:

The fun begins as we determine what configuration of the crates will fit in the plane.  It’s a bit like playing Tetris.  We load any supplies we may have collected, and finally we add fuel.

FlyPups … TO THE RESCUE:

With a last minute confirmation of weather and a careful preflight, it’s wheels up!

THE HANDOFF:

Once we land, check the weather for the return trip, and fuel the plane, a group of volunteers meets us at the airport.  We hand over the supplies brought down, and we load up the pups & paperwork.

HOMEWARD BOUND:

Often referred to as the ‘Freedom Flight”, the pups are a bit chirpy during taxi & take off, but settle in once reaching cruise altitude.  All too often we’re able to sense a feeling of relief that overcomes the pups during the flight.

HOME SWEET HOME:

This is the best part.  After shutting the plane down we open the doors to find excited pups eager to meet their new families.  Generally the pups are taken to fosters for a week or two to be evaluated as their adoptions are sorted.

ONE LAST THING:

Now it’s time to empty the plane and give her a once over before retuning her to the hangar.  Next we bring the crates back to the barn to be cleaned & disinfected.  Finally they are delivered back to the hangar as we prepare for our next mission.
